Bradford Bride: Blend of Traditions

Jessica + Shawn: Indian-American Wedding!

TIMELINE OF EVENTS:

This was certainly an eventful day at The Bradford...and in the best of ways! Jessica and Shawn's wedding was the perfect blend of Indian and Western traditions and we were so thrilled to be a part of it. To feature their wedding, we thought it would be fitting to take you on the journey of the day (through our lens)! So, lets start from the very beginning...

8 AM: To begin the day, the couple had friends and family come out to set-up the stage for the Hindu ceremony. This process was super fun to watch, and the stage decor come together beautifully!

9:00-10:30 AM: This is that special time of day when the bride and her maids get to spend time together and get ready for the ceremony! And much props to Lillian of Lillian Self Hair, because there girls looked gorgeous and their hair...fabulous! In addition to getting ready, the bride and groom prepared for the ceremony with vows and Hindu tradition (as pictured below)!

11:00 AM: It's ceremony time! And this was- for us- the most exciting part of they day! Not only because of the Hindu traditions we were able to be a part of, but because this was a new experience we got to witness! Even in their most condensed form, traditional Hindu ceremonies last a couple of hours. During this time, the bride &groom and their families perform rituals in which they all make vows. This is a special time because not only is this a joining of the couple, but of the families as well. During this time, guests are not required to stay in one place and watch the entire (hours long) ceremony. Thus, it is perfectly OK for guests to mingle while the bride and groom and their involved family members perform the rituals. So, the atmosphere at the ceremony was very laid back and less formal than a structured Western ceremony--giving the ceremony a more familial and relaxed feeling. And we cannot forget to mention-- the bride was introduced and brought in to the ceremony space carried in a basket-- transportation at its finest!

1:00 PM: Time to eat! And boy, was this lunch reception delicious. Much credit to Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe for providing a wonderful meal featuring many Indian staples. My personal favorite was the dessert table--stacked high with Indian sweets! During this time, the bride and groom also step aside to take pictures--a sweet time for the two to reflect on their new status as husband & wife and capture those precious moments together! And how gorgeous is Jessica's bright and beautifully detailed Indian Sari?! (Just one of her three dresses throughout the day!)

3:00 PM: FLIP time!
While weddings look super glamorous and polished from the outside, a lot of people do not necessarily realize the work that goes into making the final product amazing. With that, we at The Bradford have to get down and dirty and put in a lot of hard work to make our couple's day so special-- and we love doing it! So, during this time there was a lot of carrying heavy tables and chairs to prepare for the Western ceremony. But, while we were hard at work, guests at the wedding got a nice break and enjoyed some cool, refreshing, and sweet shaved ice- courtesy of Kona Ice!

4:30 PM: The Shift!--In which Jessica and Shawn had a second time of sharing vows and sealing their marriage with a kiss-- at the traditional American ceremony. And, check out Jessica's second dress- how elegant! This ceremony took place in our bright, spacious, and naturally beautiful side garden- the "bride favorite" for ceremony space at The Bradford.

5:00 PM: And once again, time for flipping the space-- getting The Bradford ready for the dinner reception. So, moving all chairs from ceremony space to tables and getting the tables set-up and ready for guests to enjoy a delicious meal! And while all this was happening, Jessica and Shawn we able to slip away and take a second round of pictures as a newly-wedded couple! And we cannot forget about the bridal party photos-- check out the cool and unique superhero shirts the groom and his groomsmen rocked under their tuxedo's!

5:00-10:00 PM: Dinner and reception! And the final of Jessica's three dresses-- which, by the way, fit her perfectly! Overall, this wedding was a lot of hard work! But...each bit of sweat was certainly worth seeing this couple enjoy their special day. Our goal at The Bradford is to make your wedding day the most memorable-- However, this couple and their event-filled day will certainly be remembered by us for years to come!
