Team Beach Day

Anyone who is in our industry knows the joy you feel after finishing a wedding season! Luckily our busy season is broken up into two parts the spring and the fall. Well after successfully surviving another wedding season, Becca had the great idea to take a team beach day to Wilmington! So yesterday the team packed up at 7:30am and headed for the beach! We are fortunate enough that Bailey is actually from Wilmington and we had her to show us around. We stopped at an adorable brewery called Wilmington Homebrew. If you're ever in Wilmington, definitely check them out!

The day was spent on the beach with laughs and stories about our weddings this season. We got to read, relax and just spend time together doing nothing. We played in the ocean and caught a few waves on our boogie boards. It's just refreshing to spend time bonding with your team outside of work. I think I speak for all of us when I say, that we have a great team and we appreciate each other. Everyone works so hard and this is the largest our team has ever been.

We are excited to see where we are headed as a team and we can't wait for another wedding season, but until then, we will be enjoying our downtime!

Summer Soiree: Vendor Spotlight

This week our vendor spotlight is about CE Rental. CE Rental is a rental company for all of your wedding needs. The company is owned by Vikki and Charles Phaneuf and together they have built something special. To start, CE Rental makes its own specialty linens. There are thousands of them in different colors and fabrics for every occasion and style and all within your price range. They also offer dishes, glassware, flatware, tables of all sizes, chairs, and so much more. As a local business, they keep their inventory on site, so you never have to worry about items being shipped in from another location.

We are always pleased to work with CE Rentals and we can truly trust them. They are wonderful to our clients and we love their variety! We are pleased to have them on board for another year of Summer Soiree. We couldn't do this without them!

Come out to Summer Soiree at The Bradford on August 5th! All are welcomed to join and this is a family friendly event! There will be food, games, a silent auction and dancing!

Elizabeth and Nick: St. Michael's Ceremony and Stockroom Reception

In honor of their 1st year anniversary - we are finally blogging about this seriously sweet couple! I met Elizabeth and Nick at Panera over coffee. We instantly clicked. Elizabeth is that person that you see and wonder how they became so genuine and kind. She is one of the warmest and sweetest person we have ever had the pleasure to work with. Nick is just as wonderful and one of those grooms that you hope your daughter will end up with one day. I mean they are both teachers and met teaching at St. Michaels. How cute is that!?!  I loved meetings with these two! It was never a chore, nor was it ever dull! We laughed, chatted, and at times got a little real about life.

She sent us a random e-mail that she was looking for a house to rent for her family to stay in from Wednesday - Sunday. I replied back with - "well, I have this house -well venue actually - and it is free that weekend." This was the first time we had a group of people stay for an extended time. It was wonderful! We loved making the beds, washing the towels, making breakfast, and tending to their needs. They were the kindest people. I just loved that family! They held the rehearsal dinner there, and they invited everyone over for Sunday brunch the day after the wedding. It was one of those moments when you just got teary-eyed. THIS was what our vision was. Family and love. We were so grateful they chose us to host them for the weekend.

She had a beautiful vision for The Stockroom and we were so thrilled that she also chose to use Bushel and Peck for her flowers. Becca was the designer and she did a great job! She wanted simple, lots of greenery, and very natural.

Now this girl is gorgeous normally, but let me tell you- she was stunning in her dress. That dress! It was ah-mazing and fit her so perfectly- it looked like it was designed with her in mind.

We loved every aspect of this night. Brett with Blest Studios was a dream to work with. Ryan with SPIN kept us laughing and entertained with their seriously awesome taste in music. Beau Catering gave us a delicious meal that was the talk of the night. We ended in an epic confetti blast that was released at "the note" from Whitney Houston's I will always love you. Total disclaimer here- Confetti is NOT allowed at The Stockroom. We didn't know- we do now and we know why. I am still finding gold confetti around The Bradford and in my bridal kit.

Enjoy these photos from one of my absolute favorites from last year! It was one of those events that makes you love your job so much.

Summer Soiree: Vendor Spotlight

With Summer Soiree only 7 weeks away, we wanted to showcase our amazing vendors who are contributing to the event. Summer Soiree is to benefit InterAct, an organization who helps sexual and domestic abuse survivors. You can read about our event here. We could not do this event without the generosity of our vendors. Beau Catering has been a dream to work with. They always go above and beyond for our clients and we can't thank them enough for helping with Summer Soiree.

Beau Catering

Beau Catering is a boutique catering company based out of Hillsborough, NC, and they believe that an excellent menu is borne out of freshness and simplicity. To that end, they focus on quality ingredients, balanced flavors, and onsite food preparation to guarantee your guests will rave about the food for years to come. While their menu reflects elegant southern American cuisine, they welcome clients who wish to customize their menu to suit their specific wants.  As a full service caterer, they also deeply care about every step of service and detail that make your event run smoothly. All events start with a solid planning stage, including rental consultations, menu meetings, and site visits to address your questions and solve all logistical needs. During events, their focus is all about the follow through on every client request, step of service, and your carefully chosen menu!

When we asked Beau Catering why they decided to be so kind and donate their time, energy and resources to helping with our event, this is what they said:

InterAct, like many of the other charitable organizations to which we have donated time, food, or both, does a great job of helping those in need of support during a dark time in their lives. Beau has known Courtney and Dana of C & D Events/The Bradford for many years now, and there was no question that when our friends made "the ask" that we would answer yes to supporting this cause. It isn't always about writing one big check to these worthy organizations, but is sometimes more about multiple people pooling their resources to make an even bigger contribution possible. Hopefully we are able to bring that bigger contribution to InterAct, so that they can continue to do their best for Wake County residents.

Jessica and Brian: Spring Southern Wedding Design at The Sutherland

I was so excited when Jessica asked me to be her wedding designer - she has incredible, classy, timeless style, so I knew her wedding was going to be gorgeous!  Jessica is a dear friend and former co-worker, and I am so happy she is finally married to her best friend!  I loved the dreamy wine barrel arrangements at the end of her wedding aisle, the addition of magnolia to the design, the beautiful variety of different reception arrangements...and oh the bouquets! So lovely!

May NACE Meeting: A Pop Up Styled Shoot

NACE is an organization for event industry professionals and we are fortunate enough to belong to such an amazing group of talented people. In May, Dana had the honor of planning the NACE meeting along side Jennifer Buenviaje of Makeup for Your Day. The event was held at The Stockroom in Downtown Raleigh.

During the meeting, our friends at Southern Bride and Groom and Weddings Magazine participated in a panel. They gave their insight on PR Strategies and spoke about the importance of styled shoots in the industry. A styled shoot brings vendors of all types together to display exactly what they can offer clients. Styled shoots can be published in magazines, blogs and even on social media. This is a great way for vendors to connect with one another and network their businesses.

After the panel, the attendees were split up into six teams and participated in a pop up styled shoot. Each team had a box which they could fill with props to use during the shoot and was given a theme of either Bohemian, Romantic or High Drama. When teams arrived at The Glassbox they found models to choose from and a blank table. The teams had everything they could want to use including linens, flower arrangements, vases and much more. The teams had 10 minutes from the time that their team number was called to style the table and then they had 10 minutes to shoot it. We were so impressed with all of the teams. It tools pure talent and team work to create these beautiful designs in 10 minutes.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the NACE meeting and thank you to our vendors who donated to our meeting!

We want to thank all of our vendors who helped put this event together:
